May 12, 2018 - May 30, 2018 - The Graduate Architecture program that Meg is enrolled in at UC Berkeley, has a travel fellowship (the John K. Branner Fellowship) that they award each year. Meg submitted a proposal to study the ways that bathing rituals manifest itself into architecture. She was thrilled to be awarded $18, 000 to spend traveling for the summer. Her itinerary included 9 countries: Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, France, Morocco, Iceland, Finland, South Korea and Japan and we said we'd be happy to meet up with her in South Korea and Japan, to celebrate the last leg of her epic journey. But first she would be leaving from New Jersey and we decided to meet her there for a visit and to see her on her off. On our way to NJ we stopped for a visit with Mom and went out to the farm to dig some daffodil bulbs from NaNa's quarter mile of flowers along Lowmiller Rd.
The barn at NaNa's was struck by lightning and burned down, but Andy & Amanda left the foundation
the guys hard at work, digging up bulbs for us to plant at our houses
we enjoyed sitting on NaNa's front porch, which is now my cousin Julie's son's house.
We spent the afternoon in Lisbon. A hike on the Little Beaver Creek Greenway
bike art
Mom leaves us in the dust
We had lunch near the Lisbon courthouse
and wow! what a crazy mirrored bathroom!
next we made a stop at the Teegarden covered bridge
We decided to stop in for the weekly livestock sale, anyone want to buy a calf? Mom used to come here with her Dad, and I think I remember coming here when I was a kid with Pop Pop.
I couldn't help but take a picture while I was dropping off a book for Mom at the Rodman Public Library, where I used to work in High School.
