Good Bye New Jersey

We made it home from Florida and had a lot of work to do, to get our house ready to sell.  We had a lot of belongings to sort through and furniture to get rid of.  AND we hadn't decided where we were moving to yet.  We had been thinking about the cute little beach town of South Haven, MI but started to think that maybe a city would be fun.  When we looked at the map, Indianapolis was right in between our parents.  After a few trips to check it out, we found a great 2000 sq ft townhouse in Broad Ripple that looked like it fit the bill.  Our Westfield house sold immediately, with 3 offers over asking price and we decided to go with the family that wasn't ready to move in for 3 months (sounded good to us!).  This gave us some time to pack for the move and say our good byes to New Jersey.

March 2, 2017 - Elaine came home, from California to help with some packing and we enjoyed some of our favorite things in the area.  Grounds for Sculpture is a beautiful sculpture garden in Hamilton, NJ so on a sunny day we headed there for the afternoon

March 6, 2017 - I had wanted to see the Empty Sky Memorial in Jersey City, which looks out to where the World Trade Center was.  After exploring that we went to the Great Falls of the Passaic River in Paterson, and then a local diner for lunch.

the new World Trade Center is now visible from the Empty Sky 911 Memorial

April 12, 2017 - After a trip to Indy to look at houses we kept going and spent some time with Kevin's Dad in Sullivan, MO.  We decided to build a deck in front of Bob's weekend trailer, so we had a nice spot to sit while visiting him.

The deck builders!

April 23, 2017 - We have been maintaining a 2 mile section of the Appalachian Trail for the past 5 years and since we're moving, we have one last trip to Northern NJ before we hand it off to someone else.  We have loved having a reason to drive the hour and a half to our section of the AT and will definitely miss this beautiful piece of NJ!

April 28-30 2017 - We made camping reservations at one of our favorite NJ campgrounds at Round Valley Reservoir.  You either have to hike 5 miles to the campground or fill up you kayaks with your camping gear and paddle across the lake.

We're ready for 2 nights of camping

May 9, 2017 - Today I drove 2 hours to Longwood Gardens outside of Philly to meet up with my college roommate, Betsy who lives in Maryland.  We had a nice day catching up while walking through the gardens.  We thought we should get together while we can since she's going to be a lot farther away once we move to Indianapolis!

it's a beautiful spring day from our Village Green front porch!

May 15-17 2017 - Meg is home from her first year of grad school and we decided to spend a few days in Cape May, which is one of our favorite NJ places.  It is a 2.5 hour drive from Westfield, down at the tip of NJ (mile 0 on the Parkway).
