Sunday, February 25, 2024 - Sunday was a big day. We went for an early bike ride to the Marathon Bagel Store for breakfast. (8.5 miles round trip). Then we packed a lunch and walked to the Curry Hammock nature hike which is across the Overseas Highway and down the bike trail. (4.5 miles round trip). Then we rode our bikes to the Key Colony Concert at Sunset Park (9 miles round trip). And we fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillows!
Early ride to get bagels

Lunch on a bench
Kev had a special treat on his ham sandwich today
I forgot how jungley the trail is
barbed wire cactus (doesn't it look exactly like barbed wire?)
Luckily we got to Sunset Park early. The park was full!
The Rick Lieder Band was playing, we saw them when we were here two years ago.
Kev's feet were a little cold, good thing he brought his socks!
Monday February 26, 2024 - In the afternoon we rode our bikes to the Bongo Botanical Beer Garden. What a crazy place! Lots of seating throughout the gardens, with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs and trails through the grounds with benches and swings. There was also a wakeboard park, where you can learn to board or kite sail.

pretty sweet bench, hanging from a tree
the tree was pretty crazy and even had a shower in the middle of it

Tuesday February 27, 2024 - We played some pickleball at the community center in the morning and then just hung around Curry Hammock in the afternoon. We spent a few hours on our beach (a one minute walk from our campsite). Can't beat it!
Another beautiful sunrise this morning
Kev loves to get a pic from the picnic table (oatmeal and coffee waiting for him)
It's not as nice as Sandspur at Bahia Honda, but nice that it's so close
We love watching the kite surfers
quick walk back to the campground
sunset colors
Our butterfly is blowing in the wind! Most days here are windy!
Wednesday February 28, 2024 - Kevin met a guy at pickleball that invited us to play Mexican Train dominoes at the City Marina. They play every Wednesday at 1:00 and we've been trying to go each Wednesday, but never seem to get there. Well today, we're going to play Mexican Train dominoes, since it's our last chance! It's 17 miles round trip to the marina, which we decided to do on our bikes. We've certainly put some miles on our bikes here at Curry Hammock.
Kevin has a new way to make oatmeal. He adds raisins, dates and walnuts
He's trying to show me all of the steps, to see if he can get me to make it each morning for him. But I don't think I could make it nearly as well as he does! ;-)
We had a visitor at our campsite this morning
Isn't that a pretty shell?
The marina has a small library, tv viewing areas, a small concession stand with snacks and tables for games. We had a fun time with the 5 people that showed up for Dominoes and they had story after story after story about their various sailing adventures. It was quite a fun afternoon (it took us 3 hours to play a full game of Mexican Train Dominoes!)
Thursday February 29, 2024 - We rode our bikes 8 miles round trip to Coco Plum Beach, after lunch. It's not the prettiest beach but it has trees along the beach that give shade, which I always appreciate. It's a town beach so dogs are allowed and it's fun to watch the dogs enjoy the water
Kevin has a good book he's reading
We love the new set up for our beach umbrella (the coffee can attached to the bike works perfectly. We've got beach chairs, snacks/drinks, towels and sunscreen...all attached to the back of our bikes.
Coco Plum Beach
beach umbrella and trees for shade, yay!
On the way home we stopped at Sparky's for happy hour. .50 cent wings and shrimp and $3 beers. Sounds like dinner
The place was packed!
nice spot to park our bikes, in amongst the greenery

Friday March 1, 2024 - It was a windy day today, so we didn't play pickleball. We've been wanting to go to the Sunset Grill & Raw Bar out at the southern end of Marathon. It looks out onto the 7 mile bridge and obviously has great sunsets. We did a second night in a row of happy hour. They also had wings and shrimp, and we added spicy fries tonight as well as a couple of sliders. We had fun chatting with a young couple who also camp in a Promaster RV and it was fun to compare our favorite camping spots and favorite National Parks.
Another morning sunrise
Kev's at it again
it looks like Fall, with the sea grape leaves on the sidewalk
Sunset Bar
not quite as packed as Sparky's
the bar even has a swimming pool
there was one kid in the water just twirling around, making nice circles in the water
the sun is setting
and it's gone
now it's time for us to go
