Sunday June 5, 2022 - We had a 3 hour drive in off-and-on rain, but the views were great and we saw a few bears along the road. We stayed at Tetsa River Services and Campground which advertised in the Milepost as having “world-famous” cinnamon rolls. It wasn’t the best campground (maybe they weren’t quite ready for the season). We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast before we left on Monday morning and they were quite good. Gene & Gerry said that lots of lodges along the way say they have world famous cinnamon rolls so we’ll need to taste test as we go.

Monday June 6, 2022 - The 3 hour drive today was exceptionally pretty with lots of wildlife along the way. The road was the roughest and dustiest we’ve seen so far. There were stretches under construction that were single file led by a pilot car, but luckily it’s not too crazy busy yet. We got to Liard River Hotsprings Provincial Park around noon and we were lucky to get there early enough to snag a spot (it was full by 4:00 with people camping side by side in the overflow parking lot across the highway). The campground has nicely spaced wooded spots and an electric fence running around it, I guess to keep the bears out? It’s a .5 mile walk out to the hot springs on a boardwalk and they have several “pools” at different temperatures. We hung out in the pools for a good hour and enjoyed supper in our dining tent since there are quite a few mosquitoes.

Tuesday June 7, 2022 -Today was our first zero day since Glacier. The campground cleared out at 11:00 and then the next group started coming in immediately. There is NO cell service here and it’s so remote we can’t even get Sirius radio. Luckily we found out from the ranger that the lodge across the street had a pay phone, because today is Meg’s birthday and I couldn’t bear to not be able to wish her a happy birthday because we were out in the boonies. Luckily she answered her phone that said British Columbia was calling and we sang her a quick happy birthday and wished her a fun day. We had a lazy day, hitting the hot springs again, playing games and having a campfire.

Wednesday June 8, 2022 - Today we headed off to Watson Lake home of the sign forest, which is in the Yukon, but over the next 5 hrs, on our way to Whitehorse, we will go back and forth between British Columbia and the Yukon a few times. We saw a few bears and finally saw a moose on the drive! Watson Lake has a sign forest, which was started by a guy that worked on the highway in 1942. He added a sign with his name on it and people have been adding signs ever since. There are over 90,000 signs. It was fun to look around and see where everyone came from. Kev found a board, that didn't have anything on it and added our names.
