Corn Palace
Friday August 20th - we headed to Mitchell SD (6.5 hours, 450 miles) to visit the Worlds Only Corn Palace. We took a tour, which included a gallery of the original artwork by Calvin Shultz, who was a local art teacher that designed for the palace for 25 years. The outside designs are updated in the fall of each year. It takes about 3-4 months to complete. Last year the designs weren't changed due to the pandemic. The designs inside the palace are only changed every 15 years.
