Indiana State Fair, White River Flooding and a Few Quick Trips

 

                  

                                            

July 24, 2026 - It's been a busy summer!  AG and UG are moving to Tablerock, so we went to help them pack up their house.  We spent a lot of time packing, but we also had some fun at the lake house.

July 26, 2026 - We're headed back to Springfield to finish up packing but first an early morning walk with Mirabelle.

July 30, 2026 - We're in the home stretch of packing!

Aug 9, 2026 - We haven't been in Indy very much this summer, but when we're here we're enjoying it!

Aug 15, 2026 - It rained for a week here in Indy and they are calling it a 100 year flood.  Our townhouse complex made it through unscathed, but there was a lot of flooding around us. (since we're surrounded by the White River)

They closed the Broad Ripple flood gate

And the Art Center grounds were under water

They said the Art Center had water in the basement, so at least it didn't affect the studios

The water under the pedestrian bridge was almost to the underside of the walkway.

The White river peaked at 21.18 ft, in Marion County, staying just below the 1913 flood record of 22.3 ft

Marott Park behind our house was flooded.

Aug 16, 2026 - It finally stopped raining and it looks like the river is slowly receding.

The river is still pretty high

And the debris under the Monon Trail bridge is crazy!

Aug 18, 2026 - It's $2 Tuesday at the Indiana State Fair, so we're riding our bikes down the trail for a fun day at the fair.

Aug 21, 2026 - Ann & Erich are coming to Indy for the weekend.  We'll see what we can find to do!

Aug 22, 2026 - Today we played games, and went to Fernando's for dinner, then the Porchmen at Hotel Broad Ripple.

Aug 26, 2026 - We're headed to Missouri to drop off a few things and do some kayaking on the Bourbeuse with Deb & Chuck

It's been awhile since we've been kayaking in the tandem

We finally stopped at the new Indiana Welcome Center.  It had a nice small museum with info about the Indy 500.
