Sep 15, 2024 - Today is the turning point of the trip, we are no longer going farther from home, we're pointed towards the barn. We can't be too sad, we still have 2.5 weeks of travel left in us, but we are really sad to be leaving Nova Scotia. It's been such a beautiful place. It's a 4+ hour drive today, but we're making a slight detour to visit Grand Pré National Historic Site. This will split our drive in half and give us a spot for lunch. We are staying at a Harvest Host tonight in Collingswood Corner NS.

The Grand Pré National Historic Site tells the story of the Acadians that were deported by the British in 1755 to 1763. This Commemorative Church was built in 1922, but designated as a Memorial Church in 1992.
"Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie" was a poem written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1847 which follows a young girl during the Acadian expulsion. A statue of Evangeline is in front of the Memorial Church.

We made it to Petals & Pitchforks for the night. Natalie and her daughter have started a small farm and they sell local items. We were the only ones there and it was a nice quiet spot for the night.

Sep 16, 2024 - Today it's a 3 hour drive to our next Harvest Host in St. George, New Brunswick. We're staying at Granite Town Blueberry Farm. It's not really a blueberry farm, but more a processing plant. Luckily the blueberry season is over so no trucks are coming and going. It wasn't the best spot, but the town of St. George was a cute spot to walk around.

Kevin found this weird ceiling light at the Birch Grove Restaurant. One of the locals had told us to go there and get the scallops and Aunt Gerry said they were great.

Sep 17, 2024 - Today we're headed back to the US! The line was short at the US Customs, but it wasn't a good sign when we saw the agent coming out of the trailer in line in front of us. The agent asked us if we had fruits and vegetables, and we had just bought tomatoes. He decided he needed to check our fridge and came in and looked through ALL of our cupboards. He ended up with a bag that he filled up...eggs, PEI potatoes, tomatoes, and jalapenos (and he wanted to take our plant, but decided against it). Gene & Gerry lost a bunch too, most tragic was a brand new bag of oranges.
